In Wilmington, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in North Carolina, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 9 am–6 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Carolina Girl Gardens at (910) 319-7740; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 129 reviews, which is a strong result for a garden center in Wilmington and suggests consistent service.

Wilmington is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Wilmington follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This is my favorite nursery in the area. Great selection and variety of healthy plants. Informed, friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable pricing. Easy in and out with plenty of parking.

I went there today to get 7 plants 🪴. If it wasn't an emergency I would have left. They were expecting a trailer in and come up to demanding I park somewhere else. So I do. And that wasn't good enough. I was screamed at across the lot to move again. Yes I was in embarrassed and started crying. But I had to get these plants for my customer. So I stayed and got my plants. The manager is the one who screamed at me and after I tried talking to the owner and he acted like I was the one in the wrong. I spent $500 and got talked to like I was a dog. I will never go back there. I wait until my regular nursery has what I need.

10/10 recommend! We have been coming here for the past 3 years for our Christmas trees and the folks here are beyond wonderful! This year we noticed a big split in our trunk and when I called them about it they told us to bring the tree back and pick a new one out no problem. It was so incredibly kind of them. If you’re in need of above and beyond service when it comes to your plant needs, this is the place to go!

Wow! Such a fun place to shop for plants! I could’ve bought a truckload. Great quality plants, some unusual stuff and tons of fall flowers and decor! Fantastic prices too! This was my 4th nursery stop today (I was looking for interesting landscape plants for my yard at reasonable prices) and ended up buying nothing till I got here. This place had cool stuff and a beautyberry, one of the plants I was looking for. Their palms are awesome too; they have a wide variety. I drove about 40 miles there and yeah, I’ll definitely go back. The best part? Great customer service! I spoke with Doug, Dave and Mary who were so nice and kind, very knowledgeable and just fun people to hang with. Please support this fabulous locally owned nursery; you’ll have a fun time buying some green and saving some green.

Great place to shop for beautiful plants. Purchased a large planter with a variety of plants that we get compliments on all the time. They also have a bunch of native plants on hand. Prices are competitive and match the quality. Happy they have opened up for the season again!
